Journal 3 - Thoughts about typography
Typography is something that has persisted throughout history even up until now. In graphic programming, it can be difficult to draw a single typographic print. Most technical people are aware that there has been a slew of research on how to draw typography on computers (your web page that has character, the letters on your operating system) on how to optimize for render speed and more.
With the invention of typographic printing by Johann Gutenberg, it is especially interesting to understand how printing evolved throughout history. But the thing I am most intrigued about all of this is that simple prints can be studied to extent that there are university studies needed to expand on this work.
Symbol recognition through block printing not only provides a way to display persistent information, but it can also be left up to interpretation, where the implementation is usually left up to the user. This is especially important when nuances play a part later.
